The easiest way to apply for an Australian PR depends on many factors. Each immigration program has its own unique eligibility criteria, process, and prerequisites. The easiest way to apply for an Australian PR is under the Skilled Migration Program.

Skilled Migration Program

70% of the places in Australia’s immigration level planning went under the Skilled Migration Program. Australia needs skilled immigrants to support and sustain its economy. Since immigrants bring with them high academic qualifications and employment potential – there’s a solid promise of a better contribution to the economy.

With the Skilled Migration Program grabbing the greatest number of places – this should be your first option when you apply for an Australian PR. You have the highest chances of getting Australian PR under this stream – provided that you meet the eligibility criteria and prerequisites.

The Skilled Migration Program is point-based, where it evaluates potential immigrants based on certain factors included in the Australia PR points calculator

Here are the eligibility requirements for the three main visa categories under the Skilled Migration Program.

  1. Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

Before submitting your application under the Skilled Independent Visa category, you must first provide an Expression of Interest through SkillSelect. This can be done within or outside of Australia. Skilled Independent Visa applications are invitations only, for which you should:

  • Submit an Expression of Interest

  • Be under the age of 45 years

  • Meet general Skilled Migration requirements

  • Score at least 65 on the Australia PR points calculator

  • Meet health and character requirements

  1. Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

If you’ve been nominated by an Australian state or territory, you may be eligible to apply under the Skilled Nominated Visa category. The privileges in this category are the same as that of the Skilled Independent Visa.

The application process and requirement are also similar, except that you would be required to have the mandated experience in a nominated occupation on the Skilled Occupation List.

  1. Skilled Worker Regional/Provisional Visa (Subclass 491)

This visa has replaced the Subclass 489 Visa category as a direct pathway to apply for an Australian PR. Under this category, skilled workers and their families must study, work, and live in the designated region for at least 5 years. The eligibility requirements are the same as other categories under the Skilled Migration Program.

If you are opting to apply for an Australian PR visa under the Skilled Migration program, choose an option that is best suited to your qualifications. Consider how far you can meet the eligibility requirements and choose your option for a successful outcome.
